  • What is the concept behind SeeMyCity

    The concept of SeeMyCity is to market cities and places through mobile photography and social media.

  • Who works for SeeMyCity?

    Per May 2014 SeeMyCity has 5 members; founder and manager Marianne Hope, Co-founder Dirk Bakker, as well as Jeroen Moor, Tim Hatton and Nicolee Drake, who all became members at a later time.

  • How long has the company been going?

    The company was founded in February 2012 by Marianne Hope, Yvonne Bouman and Dirk Bakker.

  • Who are SeeMyCity’s clients typically?

    Tourist and travel organizations or any business that benefits from promoting a city, service or product

  • Where is SeeMyCity based?

    The company is registered in the Netherlands. three of the members live in different cities in the Netherlands, one live in the United Kingdom, one in Rome, Italy. To see all members, click here.

  • Where in the world can SeeMyCity arrange projects?

    In principle we can organise a SeeMyCity project anywhere in the world, access and finances allowing.

  • Is it possible to see images from previous exhibitions?

    Yes, each project city has its own online exhibition that can be found on the respective project page after the project or exhibition is finished.

  • What is Instagram?

    Instagram is a photo sharing app that lets users take pictures with their mobile phones, apply an optional “filter” to the image and share it with their friends and followers.

  • What is a hashtag and tagging?

    A hashtag is a # in front of a key word which allows all images or topics to be grouped and accessed in one place. You can tag your images or Tweets by inserting the # in front of a key word. Hashtags are used in most social media apps, like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

  • Where can I find more information about Instagram?

  • How do I find you on the various social media channels?

    You can find direct links to our social media channels on our homepage and contact page. Our press kit includes a list of all relevant links as well.

  • Do you control spam or inappropriate content?

    We rely on the social media platforms that we use to control spam, so sadly this is of our control. Where we can though, we will aim to control this either by requesting users to remove their content, or in more serious instances (e.g. Breach of copyright, inappropriate images, etc.), by reporting the user to the platform’s official channels.

  • Can I buy prints from SeeMyCity?

    Yes, you can. At the moment only by email request.

  • Can I buy and use digital images from SeeMyCity?

    Yes, but only with a licence agreement. Please email us for more information.

    Yes, but with restrictions. We have chosen to have limited advertising on our site to offer targeted, customized and integrated advertising on our blog. The message and product of the advertisement should have relevance to our business. We also welcome advertisements in form of sponsoring our contest prizes, blog give aways or exhibitions. Please contact us for more info.

  • Are you interested in partnerships?

    Yes we are. In fact we are aiming to find and set up partnerships with companies that are relevant to our business and who we can work with on a regular basis. If you are interested in partnering up with us, send us an email to discuss further.

    The concept of SeeMyCity is based on mobile photography only.

  • How can I become involved?

    We currently have a fixed number of photographers on the team. Involvement from people outside the team can be done through the current projects, our competitions and through interaction on our social media accounts. By using our hashtag #seemycity on Instagram, you have a chance to get featured on our blog and other social media platforms. There is also the option of contributing to our blog with related articles, if this sounds interesting, please contact us with your idea. If you want to be involved in a potential project in your city,  please bear in mind that we are only able to consider cities where funding is available.

  • Can I write a guest article/blog for SeeMyCity?

    Absolutely, if you have an interesting subject that fits our profile and can write a few words about this, then we might be interested in posting it via our channels. Email us for further details.

  • Can I start my own SeeMyCity project?

    Anyone can initiate a SeeMyCity project, but only through working with us. Please contact us for more information. Our concept is patented and it would be illegal to commence a SeeMyCity project without us.

  • How do I start a SeeMyCity marketing project?

    It’s easy! You need to be willing to finance the project (or have a sponsor/partner who is). It helps to have a clear vision of what you’d like to achieve, we can help you define your needs. We will arrange an initial meeting to discuss your requirements free of charge to determine if and how we can help you. We will then write a proposal with costings. Once that has been agreed we can start!

  • Can you help me set up a website for my project?

    Yes we can! We also offer consulting services and advice in this area. Please contact us for more information.

  • Who owns the content of the project?

    The literature that is written specifically for the project is yours. Images that were taken either by us or by members of the public belong to the photographer. However, they can be used for marketing purposes for the duration of the project if the photographer is credited (with prior consent, which can be automatically put into place when contributing for certain hashtags or for competitions).
 You also have the option of buying or licensing SeeMyCity’s pictures to use after the project has ended.

  • I am a country and I would like to promote my country as a whole rather than just a city, can you help?

  • I am a hotel/ tour operator and I would like to promote a specific place, can you help?

  • Do you only provide one-off services or can we set up an ongoing partnership?

    We encourage setting up an ongoing partnership. Regular events such as annual exhibitions or daily/weekly/monthly features of images on the Instagram channel are a great way to keep the city in focus. We can provide moderators for your Instagram account should you need them – this is what we’ve done for SeeMyDoha.

  • How much do you charge for a project?

    Projects come in different shapes, sizes and locations and that determines our charging model. We’re very happy to discuss your requirements and provide you with a cost indication. Send us an email to request more information.

    This depends on what language you would want to use. Mainly we recommend using English, but we have people who speak Dutch, German and Norwegian fluently.

  • Can I join your competitions?

    You can, but you’ll have to ensure the photos are relevant to the competition and that they are mobile photos only. For example, if the competition is for SeeMyDoha then the image has to be taken by you, in Doha, and posted (tagged) within the timeframe published. Be sure to read the info and rules before submitting. Info about our ongoing contests can be found on our homepage and on the respective project pages.

  • How can I join your mobile photography competitions?

    Our competitions are arranged via Instagram. You enter by posting the images to Instagram and by using the designated contest hashtag, i.e. “#seemy…”. Please see the respective project page for more info and competition rules. You can see all ongoing contests in the announcement section on our homepage.
