We Visit Leuven and SeeMyCity wanted to “See Your Leuven”, aiming to engage the citizens and visitors of Leuven. Through the months of October, November and December, a mobile photography competition was held on Instagram, where images were submitted through the hash tag #seemyleuven. The jury, consisting of former official city photographer of Leuven, Marco Mertens, Visit Leuven representatives and 4 SeeMyCity representatives, looked for creative and original images. 20 winning images were chosen from the over 4000 submissions to participate in the SeeMyLeuven exhibition, 10 of these won an additional prize offered by our sponsors. See prizes and names of the winners here.
The event, held at the M – Museum Leuven, was hosted, commissioned and initiated by Visit Leuven and executed by SeeMyCity.
The workshop started with 3 short presentations. Marianne Hope (@mariannehope) shared photographic tips about how to “see” and capture a city creatively. Jeroen Moor talked about his experiences with mobile photography and Instagram and gave the participants some of his best insider information and advice. Herbert Schröer talked about the photographic rules that have helped him in his photographic adventures.
The workshop ended with a photographic adventure and treasure hunt through the city, accompanied by the SeeMyCity photographers, including Dirk Bakker. See video from the workshop here.

”Thank you @seemycity! The #seemyleuven workshop taught me how to be creative with a smartphone, in spite of the technical restrictions. The restrictions are what makes it fun and goes to show that you don´t need all digital camera functionalities to take a great photo” @flupke1
